چکیده

“Ugly food” refers to agricultural products that are discarded because their appearance is not attractive, even though nutritional content unaffected. In this study, protection motivation theory (PMT) was applied analyze whether an individual’s awareness of food waste problems affects “ugly purchase intention. Hence, the relationships between problems, threat appraisal (severity and vulnerability), coping (response efficacy self-efficacy), ugly intention were analyzed. Additionally, a moderating effect analysis conducted per consumer age. Descriptive statistical analysis, frequency, SPSS reliability used, including confirmatory factor structural equation modeling, multi-group Amos program. For final 361 samples used. Results showed positively affected severity vulnerability, response efficacy, self-efficacy. Moreover, vulnerability did not. Response self-efficacy age, difference significant. This study has various academic practical implications, presents several strategies reduce contribute sustainable future environment. It also first linking problem, PMT, behavior.

Planning of Waste Reduction Strategies under Uncertainty

Pharmaceutical and specialty chemical production often causes high waste to product ratios. This can be explained by complex reaction mechanisms that require complicated multi-step production routes as well as stringent product purity and quality requirements. Therefore a large number of different types and levels of waste are leaving pharmaceutical production campaigns and need material recove...

Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Food Waste and Model Food Waste Compounds

Solid waste is generated at a rate of more than 4 lb per person per day. A significant portion of the non-recyclable waste is food waste, with high water content and low energy density. While most thermochemical conversion processes require a relatively dry feedstock, hydrothermal liquefaction uses subcritical water as the reaction medium and is therefore compatible with high-moisture feedstock...

Consumers in a Sustainable Food Supply Chain (COSUS): Understanding Consumer Behavior to Encourage Food Waste Reduction

Consumers are directly and indirectly responsible for a significant fraction of food waste which, for a large part, could be avoided if they were willing to accept food that is suboptimal, i.e., food that deviates in sensory characteristics (odd shape, discoloration), or that has a best-before date which is approaching or has passed, but that is still perfectly fine to eat. The choice to accept...
